The band features Nathan Hurley, Caleb Hurley, Davis Drake and Evan Todd; an alternative, 60’s style rock band from Joplin, Missouri. The band takes their inspiration by the Beatles, Frankie Valli and the four seasons and Vampire Weekend. Guys on a bus have opened for the band Camino, and Wrecks, which gained them popularity over the past few years. “We got a booking agency four months ago,” says Nathan. “and we told them to put us on the road for 150 shows this year.”

Since then, guys on a bus have been on a four-week tour across the U.S while hitting major cities along the way. “We have been all over Texas, all over California,” says Nathan. “after tonight, we’re playing Chicago, then Louisville, Kentucky and then St. Louis.” During the tour, other band’s guys on a bus have performed beside include Blue Rainboots, Thinking caps and Juniper Park. Their favorite show on their tour has been Riverside, California where they performed in a house packed with one hundred and fifty people. “They just went nuts and none of them had ever heard of us before,” says Nathan. “so, to get loyal fans and friends that quickly, they were just some of the nicest people.” Nathan describes the experience similar to playing in his home town.

Guys on a bus performed with their favorite gear during their tour and their show in Omaha. Nathan, the band’s lead guitarist plays a Gibson Les Paul Mini with a Boss reverb, dd20 delay, a mosfet full drive and a Fender blues junior amplifier. Caleb Nektar Impact LX49 keyboard and a 2014 Macbook Air running it through MainStage 3. For drums, Evan uses an 80s series Pearl Session Custom drum set that’s lasted him for 13 years. Evan also uses X series Zildjian cymbals for a darker tone. For bass, Davis uses an Ibanez SR505 five string bass with an Electro Harmonix Bass Soul Food and a BOSS milti-effects pedal going into a Markbass amp.

The band will be back on tour in July 2019 once they finish their four-week tour. Guys on a bus will start another tour traveling with Tennessee and Wisconsin; while making their way towards the east coast and wrap up on the west coast. Nathan closed out the interview with some advice for any touring band. “Don’t eat out because money goes quick,” says Nathan. “don’t get hotels if you have friends and try not to take things personally because nobody knows who you are yet.”
